Habits

With the Seniors now in the ongoing process of NCEA Exams, our focus now moves to the Year 9 and 10 students' routines and habits for the next 4 weeks.
The emphasis is on incorporating effective learning routines and habits into the classroom to enhance learning outcomes. These routines include:

Be on time - move to class on the bell.
Bring your gear: PE clothes, Chromebook, pens, and a writing book for each subject at a minimum.
Do the Do Now - this is usually a warm up activity based on a recap from the previous lesson.
Write down the Learning Objective (LO) - the key point the teacher wants you to learn. It will be on the slides for the lesson or on the board. Write it down.
The Success Criteria - did we get there? What should we be able to do after 50 mins in class that links to the LO.

We expect our teachers to do this as our regular routine and structure, and we have high expectations of our students to do the same in each lesson. It means one new skill or use of knowledge per lesson, 5 things per day, 25 things per week.
We will be better than before (BTB) and have great learning habits rolling into 2025 and beyond.
