6th September 2024 Newsletter

Kia Ora Tatou

I had a great 4 days at football tournament with the boys football team. We had a win, scored lots more goals than last year and were very competitive with some excellent teams. One of whom, in the top 5 to 8 teams, commented that we had the best team spirit of anyone they played at the end of the week. It just shows what commitment, a positive attitude and team spirit can do. I am sure the other teams have had or are having an equally good experience. Thanks to all staff, parents, coaches, managers and volunteers for making this happen.

Conferences
We have just opened up our Conference bookings on www.schoolinterviews.co.nz please use the code ktuwd to book times with mentors on:

  • Tuesday 10th September from 4pm to 8pm
  • Wednesday 11th September from 8:40am to 3:00pm

These are 20 minutes appointments with the mentor to review progress made during the year and to set goals for the remainder of the year. We would like to have students accompanying parents or caregivers where possible.

Literacy and Numeracy Common Assessment Activities
Next week we begin the second round of Literacy and Numeracy Common Assessment Activities as part of the new NCEA changes. Students have been emailed individual emails regarding which test or tests they are entered into. If they are not sure they should search for Katherine Beaumont in their inboxes for details. If students do not have an email they are not entered. It is really important that they bring a fully charged laptop to school. If this is not possible we will have limited alternative computers.

And finally
It has been a pleasure to be Acting Principal for the first 7 weeks of this term. Thank you to all the staff that have stepped up to different roles in this time. On Monday we welcome Mr Wright back from his study and sabbatical.
