This week has been quite eventful in terms of our engagement with the community. Our winter sports season has kicked off with over 45 teams participating. We've also had taster days with some of our feeder schools to establish connections for the future, and our community has celebrated the opening and blessing of new classrooms.
We strongly believe in the motto "strong school, strong community; strong community, strong school." Therefore, finding ways to celebrate and connect with our community is beneficial for all of us.
Our sports department paid a visit to Henderson Intermediate School (HIS) this week to organise sports activities such as rugby, netball, football, and basketball for their year 8 students. We also welcomed year 8 students from Waitākere Primary and Swanson Primary to the College for taster activities in sciences, arts, and languages.
More events are planned for the year, including hosting year 8 students from HIS and Waitākere Primary for a matinee of our school show.
Seeing parents and whānau on the sidelines at sports games and during the blessing of our new Health and PE classrooms, named Te Korowai Hauora me ngā Nukuhanga (the cloak of health and movement), is always a pleasure and strengthens the bond between our College and the community.
Ngā mihi Mark P Shanahan
