Kia Ora Tatou Community Consultation On behalf of Mr Wright and the Board of Trustees I have sent a letter asking for your feedback on South Otago High School. Please take the time to complete this survey / form as we will be including the feedback we receive into the schools strategic plan for 2024 and 2025. I would ask you to have this completed by Monday 9th October which is the first day back of term 4. Polyfest On Wednesday evening our Kapa Haka group travelled to Dunedin to perform in the Otago Polyfest. The commitment these students have, and the joy they display in performing is truly a delight to see. The school performed with distinction.
Class Act Congratulations to Jethro Ware and Ryan Williams, who were presented with their Class Act awards on Wednesday by the Prime Minister at a ceremony held at the Dunedin Art Gallery. The school is very proud of the achievements of these two students. I am assured the picture with the Prime Minister is somewhat pink due to lighting of the Art Gallery rather than any politics.
Junior achievement - Merit and Excellence badges Well done to our junior students that have gained their Y9 or Y10 Merit or Excellence badge. This week I had the pleasure of celebrating this success in assembly. In future assemblies I look forward to presenting more badges and seeing some of those students with Merit badges upgrade to Excellence. I have emailed students with the criteria they need to meet to gain these badges and mentors will have information on their current level of achievement.

Enrolments We have had a high turn out for enrolments for Y9 students starting with us in 2024 over the last two weeks. If you have not yet managed to do so please call the school office to make an appointment to do so. Respect on a Friday morning Unfortunately this morning I have been informed that a small minority of our students have presented a problem for a shop in town before school starts. I do ask that you remind students to be respectful of the businesses we have in town which includes not going inside if you are not purchasing any items or going inside in a large group. And Finally
Take a deep breath, next week is the last week of term. We look forward to the Cultural Competition and Interhouse Sports on Monday. Then we have swimming sports on Tuesday. This is compulsory for Y9 and optional for Y10 to Y13.
Please take the time to take part and enjoy these events, have fun, play hard and play fair. After all it isn’t all that long away we were unable to host these events and we all really missed them.
