15 November 2024 Newsletter

Kia Ora Tatou

The school seems quite quiet without the senior students but it has been good to see our new Junior Student Council step into the leadership role. This last week they have organised an assembly and also run a fun 3 on 3 basketball competition where some teachers were drafted in to play!!!

In the coming weeks teachers will be preparing for the end of year activities. We continue to have high expectations for all students to be assured that they will be good ambassadors for the school when they go out into our communities and enjoy the end of year programmes.

Senior exams
There has beena steady stream of students into the exam hall with one of the biggest exams NCEA L1 English on Tuesday. Once again most students appear confident as they leave.

If your child is not able to sit the exam for what ever reason please do let the school office know as soon as possible.

Merit and Excellence badges

Apologies for the Merit and Excellence list not appearing for junior students last week. It will be there this week. Congratulations to all of our hard working students reaping the rewards of their efforts.

Finally
Today’s teacher only day has been an invaluable time for teachers to prepare course material for 2025 and start the reflection on their 2024 courses. The changes to NCEA means that there will continue to be ongoing development and refinements which are likely to continue beyond 2025. The teachers at South Otago High School are committed to working towards the success of every child and this teacher only day has been a significant help to prepare for the future success of students.

Have a good weekend
