Grateful.

Part of my message at our Senior Prize Giving that I shared with our students, staff, family, and whānau this year was one of ‘GRATITUDE’
I’d like to acknowledge the things I am grateful for as Principal/Tumuaki of this College over this year and the last two years.

I am grateful for:
·       Our attendance at school over our year, working around the changes that we had to make (26 teachers away over 2-3 weeks)
·       Our student willingness to engage in their learning and the work set when our teachers were having to work from home.
·       Our staff and teachers for maintaining learning relationships and routines throughout this year (with approx. 200+ teachers and staff here, we kept routines as regular and positive as possible)
·       The Manawanui of our community, never giving up and being flexible and adaptable as each situation presented itself.
·       Our health and the respect so many of us have had for our students, staff, and their families and whānau to allow others to stay safe in our community.
·       That we have opened and blessed 8 new teaching classrooms for our students and staff.
·       Re-opened and blessed the Jackson Auditorium Te Tiakihana Whare Tapere to celebrate our successes and achievements, our history, and to be able to welcome our community back with these recent events:
  • Arts n Culture Awards
  • Mana Māori Awards
  • Pasifika Awards
  • Senior Prizegiving

These are but a few of the many things for which I am grateful that have allowed Waitākere College to be better than before (BTB)

Ngā mihi
