Informed, Involved and Included |
Three of the Pillars of this College are - our students, our teachers and our parent/whānau community. We have high expectations for our students to be, 'the best they can be'. Our teachers have high expectations to produce good learning environments and have high expectations of the students in their care. For our parent/whānau community, we work to ensure they are informed, involved and included in the learning journey of their teenager. For our parent /whānau community, there are many ways our College works with families to achieve this;
- Weekly Reports - provide a quick 'heads up' of how things are going this week. We all look for trends and patterns to ensure the scores remain positive or changes are made to improve.
- Weekly Attendance Summary - provides a similar 'heads up' of class and daily attendance for that week. We support this with daily text communication on lateness to school or absence.
- NCEA Latest - from this term onwards NCEA updates are added to KAMAR for students and whānau to monitor via the portal NCEA Grades being loaded as they achieve.
- Weekly Newsletters - updates on activities that have occurred with a focus on positive success stories as well as key calendar information.
- Winter sports activities - games on a weekly basis for parents to support their teenagers and connect with other whānau and students.
Over the next two weeks, we have the Rumaki Hui on the 12th of June, Pasifika Fono on the 13th of June, and Parent/Student/Teacher evenings on Thursday 20th and Tuesday 25th of June. These are all opportunities to support the three pillars of our College and allow our parent/whānau community to be regularly informed, included and involved so that our students can be the 'Best They Can Be.'
