Kia Ora Tatou While there is no such thing as a quiet week in a high school this week has had relatively few events. This has meant a settled start to term where students have been working diligently. My assembly talk this week was about being focused, having goals and making sure that you have actions to work towards those goals. As the term gets busier student will realise the need to do this more and more. So starting with some good habits and making sure that students are on top of work in advance is the key to a successful term 3. Production I am very much looking forward to attending Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Only $5 to join us for the classic stage production of the film by Ian Flemming. The rehearsals have been going well and the cast and crew are excited about the production. Performances will be at 6pm on 28th, 29th and 30th of July in the transformed school hall. Board elections For anyone who is keen to contribute to the governance of South Otago High School I encourage you to look at nominations for the board of trustees. This link will take you to a webinar with more information on what this involves. Being a parent trustee is a rewarding way of giving back to the school and directing its future strategic direction. Open Night Open Night is one of my favourite evenings of the year. I will be privileged to meet the next generation of South Otago High School students and start their secondary school journey with them. Moving from primary school to a high school is a big change and Open Night is one of the first steps on this journey. The Principals address will begin in the school hall at 6pm on Thursday 24th July. Afterwards there will be tours of the school led by Y13 and Y9 students. A big thank you to all students that have volunteered to help. And finally… the Canteen Thank you all for your support with providing food while the canteen has been closed. We will be open next week at lunch time with a limited range of food. Please can you make sure that students have food for interval. We will endeavor to have the canteen fully back up and running as soon as possible. Ka kite ano Nigel Scarth - Deputy Principal |
