Hard Work Brings Results

We are moving very quickly to the academic pinch point of the year for both internal and external assessments. We are also at the culmination of our winter sports competitions.
Both academic and sporting success comes not just from natural talent and ability, but also from how hard you have applied yourself to reach the goal. The mahi in preparation, training, pre-tests and preliminary games or exams sets you up for success.
Teachers are right now preparing and practising for the Common Assessments ( CAA ) in Literacy and Numeracy that our year 10, 11, and 12 students will be sitting in week 8 & 9 to gain the 20 credits needed as a prerequisite for NCEA to be awarded.

Also in weeks 8 & 9, all seniors with external exams will be sitting practice exams to model the situation they will be working under in November. The work and preparation going into these exams link directly to their achievement in November. They can also support the Derived Grade process in a particular external standard if an exam cannot be sat.

Preparation, mahi and practice by many of our sports teams have reaped the rewards with some recent successes, including:

  • Champions 9 A Netball
  • Champions 10 A Netball
  • Winners of Grades are 10 Blue, and Senior White Netball
  • Winners of Grade Junior Boys Football.
  • Auckland Champions Boys Open Basketball
  • Auckland Champions U17 Girls Basketball

Congratulations on your success and the rewards for your hard work in these sporting areas. Remember that nothing comes without hard work, so now the focus shifts to our academic preparation and work for success in assessments.

Ngā mihi

Mark P Shanahan
