With the Paris Olympics currently underway, we are witnessing triumphs and disappointments in the blink of an eye in every event. These athletes have practiced for years to reach their peak at this time, aiming to achieve a Personal Best (PB), a Season Best (SB), or even an Olympic medal. Many of our New Zealand athletes have achieved this through their hard work. Natural talent alone isn't enough in the real world. We have to practice, practice, practice. We will be celebrating Season Best (SB) results over the next two weeks with our sports teams, dance showcase, and student performances. The Dance Showcase on Wednesday night was a celebration of the hard work our senior students and teachers have put in throughout the year. It was an outstanding night and a great celebration of the talent that has worked very hard to achieve their PBs and NCEA credits. Many of our sports teams are peaking at the end of the season. At this point:
- In basketball, 4 out of 5 of our teams have qualified for the Auckland Champs.
- Many of our netball teams have qualified for finals and semifinals.
- Junior footballers are in the top four.
- Badminton already has champions, with possibly more to come.
In both academics and sports, natural talent is only rewarded with practice, practice, practice. Look for a role model during these Paris Olympics to help inspire you to keep up your hard work to reach your Personal Best.
