Kia ora parents, family, whanau and aiga.

As you know and appreciate our goal has been to continue to remain open for learning for our tamariki and mokopuna. It has been great to see students and staff recover and return to the College after this Omicron wave has passed through our community.

We are now in the position to move back to Waitakere Stage 2 starting on Monday 21/3/22 Week 8 Day 1.
What does this look like:
Normal 5-period timetable and bell times resume.

For students at home affected by Omicron or self Isolating up to 7 Days:

  • Teachers will have activities/ tasks/ topics that students can do without
supervision. These can be available as a resource for students to use
independently while online or as teachers work through them with the
students in front of them as well.

  • As this is a limited period of time, about 5 school days, it is expected that
this is a period of self-directed work. Teacher priority will be on interactive
     face to face lessons.

  • Teachers at home will post Hybrid Online interactive lessons for those
students in supervised lessons at school and those at home.

As numbers continue to decline and staff numbers remain manageable, we plan to look at returning to Waitakere Stage 1 on Monday 28/3/22 Week 9. In this stage, Hybrid Online Learning will stop. This will be confirmed by email and newsletter next Thursday 24th.

Once again, I would like to thank our staff for their continued energy and enthusiasm. They are continuing to make a positive difference for their students in all the planning and teaching they are doing at this time. Providing this certainty is greatly appreciated.

I would like to thank our students, who have been attending well and responding positively to all the prevention protocols in place to keep us safe and reduce any spread.

And of course, our parents and whanau, who have been ensuring their healthy students are attending College, or who are managing isolation issues in their home at the moment.

Our Waitakere community is responding well to this current Omicron surge, and I continue to remain optimistic that as we go through this month we will be well placed to rebound and be the best we can be this year.

 Nga mihi
