As we approach the end of the year school life seems to get busier and along with this more opportunities  are presented for our students. In assembly this week I talked about all of the activities we have on offer outside of the classroom and encouraged students to make the most of them. I also made the point that when we are in the classroom we are here to learn, work hard and doing the little things right makes the bigger picture better for everyone. In short it was a reincarnation of the old adage “play hard, work hard”.

Basketball

A big thank you to our junior student council and Ms Hasanbegovic for the lunch time basketball competition. The atmosphere in the new gym was a lovely environment to be in and the students were having a great time. I look forward to seeing the competition unfold. Early in the week my team had a controversial 3 - 2 loss, aren’t they all, while also providing me with a reminder that my calf muscles aren’t quite as robust as they used to be.

Y12 Leadership and peer support training

It was great to see our Year 12 students return on Wednesday morning for the Peer Support leadership first training session. We look forward to the second session Friday 31st January in 2025. Thanks to Mrs Bloxham, Ms Sheppard, Mrs Penn, Mr Matsas, Mrs Bir and Mr Russell for your leadership of the groups.

White ribbon

On Tuesday we welcomed the white ribbon riders with their motorbikes and message around family violence prevention. The students listened respectfully and were engaged with the theme of being a good person and standing up for what is right. The white ribbon website contains much more information and is a great resource.

And finally…

We are looking forward to our junior production “The Christmas Curse”. We have shows on Monday 2nd and Tuesday 3rd December. Doors open 6pm for a 6.30pm start. Koha or a gold coin entry to feel uplifted and enjoy our students skills, talents and have a fun festive evening.
