The Busiest Term 2 in 5 Years

We have just completed the first uninterrupted Term 2 in 5 years. It has been a term of many highlights and the establishment of routines around our College values of Respect, Caring, and Learning. Embedding the importance of our college culture is crucial to the success of this school, our students, and our wider community.

Activities that have helped consolidate our culture and expectations around Respect, Caring, and Learning are:

• Our teaching delivery and plans are based around lesson structure - a Do Now, a Lesson Objective, Feedforward and Feedback, and Success Criteria.
• Regular academic updates and connection to our parent whānau community - with weekly reports, weekly attendance reports, term summary reports, NCEA updates, fono and hui evenings, and parent/student/teacher evenings.
• Education Outside the Classroom (EOTC) opportunities for students to experience authentic learning to support assessments.
• Winter sports teams with over 40+ teams in Netball, Football, Rugby, Badminton, Basketball, and Hockey all build character and manawanui.
  Business Studies 
• Market Day - year 11-13 students took a product from design to market and used a business plan. 200-400 students, teachers, and family were involved.
• Our School Show - The Addams Family. A wonderful exhibition of talent and performance to celebrate the arts here at Waitākere College and share that skill and talent with our community.
  
  

It takes many strands to weave a positive culture into our community, and the activities in Term 2 have ensured we are 'Better Than Before' (BTB).
