Congratulations and Thank You.
We come to the end of 11 weeks of school, Term 1, in a very good position for a solid and successful year ahead. Congratulations. I would like to thank our students, family and whanau for your support this term. The way that you have responded so well to the Covid Protective Framework (CPF- Red) to ensure that our students, tamariki and mokopuna were able to continue their learning in the best way possible over this term. Your ability to pivot and approach health and learning issues with such a flexible attitude has allowed our College Community to rebound and recover this term.
Our physical attendance is now over 85% and many students are completing NCEA Assessments to gain their first credits this term. Many are on the cusp of credit completion in the first two weeks of term 2. Our winter sports teams are in place in preparation for the term 2 start with many teams having coaching sessions or 'friendly' pre-season games. I would like to express my thanks to our staff who have held the College together as they balanced health and learning issues in their own whanau while ensuring the College remained physically open for learning. This consistency and certainty for our students have given them the confidence to return to school and engage in learning, sports and their real physical social network. You have made this happen.
Enjoy a well-deserved break, staff, and thank you once again. We come to Easter a bit exhausted but in the knowledge, our Term 2 startup will be solid and focused on the new 'normal' that schools now operate under. Easter is a time for reflection, giving thanks and appreciation and renewal. Take that opportunity with your family, whanau and friends this Easter.
God Bless, Mark P Shanahan
