From the RectorKia ora whānau. As we approach the end of the academic year, it is great to see how many of the boys of this school are continuing to push themselves forward to experience new things and achieve success across a vast range of fields and endeavours.
Our Junior Production has been a spectacle, and the feedback from the cast, crew and crowds have been a testament to the hard work that has gone into putting on Aladdin. As the applause dies out and lights dim it is a fitting time to acknowledge the amazing performances. From genies and princes to dashing heroes and scheming villains, our boys showed a diverse range of abilities whilst remembering that wit and charm carry a show. Congratulations to all.

Production - Disney's Aladdin JrSince September, a dedicated group of students have been rushing down to Southland Girls’ High School straight after school to rehearse this year’s Junior Production of Disney’s Aladdin Jr. The classic Disney movie has been given a makeover for the stage (no talking parrots or monkeys in this show!), so excitement around casting was high, with new characters such as Aladdin’s best friends, to explore. Announcements were made and a rehearsal held to get everyone started before the school holidays. Intense and focused rehearsals have been a big focus since the term started. Special thanks to the Southland Girls' High School Production Team for their work in putting the show together and giving our boys a chance to shine. For many students, taking part in the production opens a whole new world of opportunities and can build friendships that last for many years to come. The show ran for three performances this week to very appreciative audiences, with feedback raving about the quality of the performances, the technical complexity and how much fun everyone seemed to be having. Congratulations to all the students involved for providing some top entertainment to our community. |
