9 Weeks of Action

Term two is pretty much a non-stop term. It is only 9 weeks long with, in our case, 3 short weeks based on our Teacher Only Day, King's Birthday, and Matariki. We need to ensure that our work habits and effort this term are on achievement and success.

Some highlights from last term were;

  • 50th Jubilee Celebration Weekend for about 1000 past pupils
  • Polyfest Cultural Celebration with 300 students in 7 cultural groups
  • Academic Achievers Assemblies and presentations for Year 12 & 13 students, family and whānau.
  • Senior Report Evening for our 1200 Year 11, 12, and 13 students, families and whānau to plan for term 2 and beyond.
  • An average of 80% of our students attending 80% of the term.

In Year 11, both staff and students will focus on completing their first Achievement Standard (AS) for 5 credits. Throughout this term, they will also work on various learning milestones to prepare for their second AS, which is expected to be completed by late term 2 or early term 3, earning another 5 credits.
Students in Years 12 and 13, along with their staff, will focus on achieving AS qualifications, as these are shorter in length. They will be building their credit count through 3 or 4 credit standards.
We encourage and expect parents and whānau to check in with their tamariki and ask about progress on the milestones in Level 1 in Year 11 , or on assessment dates and results for the Year 12 and 13 assessments. Keep closing the loop.
Our junior school has as its focus, building knowledge and establishing the habits of successful learners as we go through this term. This will lead to an informed Parent Teacher Evening in July where academic progress can be discussed.
Term 2 is the beginning of our winter sports programme with over 50 + teams representing at all levels of competition. Congratulations and good luck in this fabulous opportunity.
Our School Show, Mama Mia, bookends this term so enjoy the work and practice that will go into yet another outstanding College Production.

Welcome back to a busy term.

Ngā mihi
