Term 4 - Week 3

Tēnā koutou,

Our celebration season continued last night with our annual senior prizegiving.  As usual, it was a fantastic event and an opportunity to honour our senior students’ academic achievement in 2024.  It is important to acknowledge everyone who was involved in the planning, preparation and delivery of our senior prizegiving.  It’s a huge team effort, and I know many hours were spent putting the event together by a large number of people.  There is so much attention to detail that goes on behind the scenes to make senior prize giving a success - thank you!

The supreme academic award winners for 2024 are:                                          Dux of the College - Luka Leusink                                                                        Proxime Accessit - Nicholas Steed

We also announced our head student group for 2025 during the senior prizegiving.  Congratulations to the following students who will form our head student rōpū (group) next year:                                                                            Head Students - Tawhai Donaldson and Vanya Heaslip                                      Deputy Head Students - Mia Way-Ferguson and Scarlett Rutherford

A reminder - on Tuesday 12 November we will be holding a teacher only day.  For our teachers, the day will focus on building capacity in the area of teaching literacy.

On Tuesday next week we will hold a junior assembly to set expectations for our Year 9 and Year 10 students for the remainder of the school year.  The remainder of term four is an opportunity for junior students to step up and become more of a leadership presence around the school.  We will be re-teaching students about our expectations related to whakapono - honesty and integrity, wero - courage and bravery, and manaakitanga - respect, support, and care.

Our concerns and complaints procedure can be found in the contact section of our website.  If you wish to raise a concern, please follow the procedure in this document.

Our school continues to opt into the Government School Donation Scheme.  Information about this scheme can be found here.

Any business wanting to host a student for work experience?
Every year we are funded to put out 70 of our senior students on voluntary work experiences. From these work experiences come some amazing things….... confidence, a sense of belonging, the knowledge that they can add some value, learning about industries that they know very little about and sometimes the opportunity of potential employment. Everything that is learned on a work experience contributes to a future decision and learning work ready skills are vital for life beyond school. Do you know a business that would like to host a Taupo-nui-a-Tia College student for a 10-day work experience? If this is something that you would like to know more about, please contact Nicola Thomsen, Gateway Coordinator, e-mail: [email protected].
