Rostering home

Unfortunately we have had to roster year groups home this week. As a school we do not take this decision lightly and do so only as a last resort. We have had to do this due to a large amount of staff sickness combined with a lack of relief teachers. I hope those students rostered home took advantage of the online work that was set.

Manu Pounamou

I would like to congratulate Kyla Te Moana Currie and Luka May for receiving their junior and senior Manu Pounamou awards. This year it’s especially significant as it marks a significant milestone as we celebrate 25 years of acknowledging and uplifting the achievements of rakatahi Māori in Otago secondary schools. Since its inception in 2001, the Mana Pounamu Young Achievers’ Awards have stood as a testament to the strength, resilience, and excellence of our young leaders.

Talent Quest

Talent Quest on Thursday lunchtime was a real highlight of the week. We had a number of talented students perform and had a magnificent finale with the council versus the staff. I am proud of everyone that got up on stage and performed as it takes courage to do so. In particular thanks to Johnston Phillips as the lead organiser of th event.

Holidays in term time

As a school we have received a number of requests for holidays during term time recently. If you are planning to do this as a family please contact the Principal prior to going so that we can mark attendance accordingly and give permission.

And finally

What a fabulous term! I’ve seen students working hard towards academic endorsements, both in specific subjects and overall, and striving for their own level of personal excellence.

We have had a huge number of co-curricular activities, from Vietnam last holidays to the Netball team going to South Island Championships this holiday, and everything in between. Please remember this only happens through the hard work of teachers, support staff and parent volunteers. I know we all love to see these opportunities take place so take the time to thank, and be positive towards, the people that make the magic happen.
