Term 2 - Week 2
Tēnā koutou,
During assembly slots this week, our school production cast were able to perform a few acts from the Mamma Mia musical for our junior and senior students. It was the students’ first opportunity to perform in front of a live audience. I was immensely proud of the wero (courage and bravery) the cast demonstrated by performing in front of their peers. The cast and crew have been rehearsing for over eight weeks now in preparation for our production week, beginning on Tuesday 20 May. Tickets are in inevitably going to sell out, so please ensure you get in quick to secure your tickets here for the following dates: Tuesday 20 May - 7:00 pm Wednesday 21 May - 7:00 pm Thursday 22 May - 7:00 pm Saturday 23 May - 1:00 pm (matinee) Saturday 23 May - 7:00 pm
On Wednesday, we held our annual school cross-country event. Taupō turned on a beautiful afternoon and pleasingly, we had 325 students participate. Numbers participating have been increasing every year since 2022. A massive thank you to our sports department for organising the event and all the staff and volunteers who helped run the event. The students were fantastic in showing their support for each other and it provided a wonderful atmosphere for both staff and students. Results can be viewed in the sports results section below - well done to the students who achieved a top three placing for their house.
This year, we are trialling a slightly different format for subject teacher interviews. Due to having more data available for junior students than senior students at this time of year, we are going to open opportunities on two subsequent Thursday afternoons from 3:20-4:30 p.m. for parents/caregivers to meet with subject teachers of junior students. Rather than use SchoolBridge, appointments can be made via phoning the school office - it will be a more flexible approach. Thursday 29 May and Thursday 5 June will be the afternoons when appointments can be made. These interviews are also an opportunity for first semester teachers to feedback prior to subject/course selection in Term Three.
At the beginning of Term Three during weeks one and two, subject teacher interviews will be held over two consecutive weeks for senior students, with the first one taking place on Thursday 17 July in the afternoon. The second day will take place on Tuesday 22 July, also in the afternoon. To enable us to conduct these interviews, classes will finish earlier at 2.30pm on this day. Interviews will take place between 3.00pm and 6.00pm. Parents will be able to book an interview via schoolbridge.
During Term Four, we will hold subject teacher interviews during weeks one and two for junior and senior students, with the first one taking place on Thursday 9 October in the afternoon. The second day will take place on Tuesday 14 October, also in the afternoon. To enable us to conduct these interviews, classes will finish earlier at 2.30pm on this day. Interviews will take place between 3.00pm and 6.00pm. Parents/caregivers will be able to book an interview via schoolbridge.
Have a great weekend!
