Thursday 30th November | Term 4 Week 8 |
Kia ora e te whānau,
As we approach our busiest weeks of the year, I’d like to thank the staff and parent supporters of our endeavours to bring the year to a close with fabulous activities and celebrations for all.
Over the last week, you may have noticed equipment arriving on the school grounds ready for the Special Education Fencing Project to commence. We’ve asked our learners to stay away from the active works, which (of course) will be appropriately fenced off by the contractors. You’ll know this fencing project is a safety measure for our more vulnerable learners, and I’d like to continue reassuring you that access to the school and fields will remain when the fence is complete. Around the perimeter of the fencing, child-safe gates for both pedestrian and vehicle access will be regularly placed.
On Tuesday night, we welcomed the students and whānau of our Year 6 cohort as part of their transition to Year 7. Thank you to Mrs Nelson for organising this event. If parents have further questions now that the dust has settled from the event, look through the transition pack emailed to you. Inside, there are details of the people to contact for assistance.
We celebrate our high school leavers with a special dinner at the Mackenzie Country Hotel tonight. Our leavers and their whānau have been invited to dinner and a presentation. I’m looking forward to being there and sharing their successes - this event is definitely one of my favourites of the year. Thank you to Michele O’Carroll, Nyree Schaar and Clare Frost for organising the event.
Next week is filled with Education Outside of the Classroom Events for our Middle School Learners (Years 7-10). If you are a parent of a child in this group, you will receive a letter outlining the activities and can also look at the plan later in this newsletter. Part of their week will be planning a Friday event for our Primary Students. The Primary Students will be treated to some water activities on Friday morning at school; then, we’ll move over to the pool for a picnic and swim in the afternoon. If you’d like to join us for the pool party from 1.30-3 pm, please come along! You’re welcome to take your child home directly from the pool as soon as they have had enough fun!! We’re looking forward to seeing you there.
Diary dates: → Friday 8th December 1.30-3 pm - Pool Party - all students from Y1-10 and parents welcome → Tuesday 12th December 10 am - Prizegiving @ The Community Centre (school closes at the end of this ceremony)
