Thursday 1st June 2023 | Term 2 Week 6

Kia ora e te whฤnau,

We hope this newsletter finds you well and enjoying the autumn season. We have some exciting updates to share, so let's jump in!

First and foremost, we would like to express our gratitude to the dedicated organisers of the recent formal. The event was a tremendous success, and we owe it all to the hard work and creativity of our staff and student committees. The night was filled with laughter, dancing, and unforgettable memories. Have a flick through the photographs later in this newsletter. Thank you for making it a night to remember!

We would like to inform all parents and students that the Parent-Student-Teacher Conferences are going ahead as scheduled for this week. They will take place on Thursday afternoon (likely as you are reading this!) and continue throughout the entire day on Friday. As such, there are no classes during the Conference sessions. The conferences are valuable opportunities for open communication and collaboration between parents, students, and teachers. We hope they will be informative and helpful for all involved.

In other news, we would like to acknowledge the remarkable efforts of our Positive Behaviour for Learning (PB4L) Team this term. They have been working tirelessly to guide expected behaviour in alignment with our school values. You may have noticed the vibrant posters around the school, reminding us of our shared values. We encourage you to engage with your child and discuss the first-ever PB4L Movie shown at a recent assembly. The movie, created by Ella Ferguson and Ariki Curtis, centred around "Caring for Each Other," reflecting our Awhinataka value.

Furthermore, we would like to extend our warmest congratulations to Stephanie Johnson on her appointment to the full-time role of Room 4 Teacher until the end of the year and Alison Blanchard on her appointment as the Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator, starting from the beginning of Term 3. Congratulations to both!

We also want to inform families that the teaching unions' industrial action has re-commenced. As a result, home rostering, teacher relief bans, and meetings outside of school hours (8:30 am - 4:30 pm) bans will be reinstated. We understand this may cause some inconvenience, but we appreciate your understanding and support. Next week, M4 are home rostered on Tuesday, June 6th and M3 on Thursday, June 8th.

Have a wonderful long weekend,

He waka eke noa,
Kate Staniford
Tumuaki | Principal
