Connection, Certainty and Confidence

Term 3 has been our term of connection, certainty and confidence, the three C's.
This has been the first uninterrupted teaching term of 10 weeks since the Global Pandemic started in Term 1 of 2020.
What did this look like to give our students, teachers, family and whānau such a successful term?

Connection is about rebuilding authentic, empathetic relationships with peers and colleagues to set high expectations of what we want to achieve. Some of these were;

  • Open Evening - students and families reconnecting with our college
  • Futures Expo - students connecting with future pathways
  • Assemblies - celebrating with peers and expectations of the college
  • Arts & Culture Awards
  • Sports Awards

Certainty is about the routines of attendance, organized, structured lessons and uninterrupted learning days. Reinforced by

  • Weekly Reports - on academic attitude and application
  • Weekly Reports - on attendance and assessment success
  • Assessment Week - concentrating the mind on testing regimes
  • Term Report - Feedback/feedforward on academic progress.

Confidence is created on the 'shoulders' of certainty and positive connection.
Our teenage rangatahi now know what the positive routines are in the college. They work with the expectations based on our values of respect, caring and learning. They now know what the boundaries are and can go forward into this break with confidence in the challenges ahead.

Have a great break. We wish the students and staff travelling to Greece and Italy the best, positive experience.

Ngā mihi
Mark P Shanahan
