Kia Ora Tatou This week has been fairly busy with the final catch up of the Common Assessment Activity exams for Literacy and Numeracy. Success in these exams is essential in order for students to be awarded their NCEA L1, 2 or 3 qualifications. We have been informed that results of these exams can be expected to be received by students in about 6 weeks. For the first part of this week I attended the Secondary Principal Association NZ conference in Wellington. Chinese Bridge competition Students Shylah Anderson and Indi Cook flew to Christchurch yesterday to compete in the South Island final of Chinese Bridge. The students came away with third place out of around 100 students. Big thank you to our Mandarin teachers Nancy and Summer for organising the day. Also thanks to Miss Tartt for heading away with the group Manu Korero Competition Also this week students have been participating in the annual Manu Korero competition. We had two students competing: Jorja Andrews and Kaya Leevey and I believe that they did very well. I was disappointed not to be able to attend this event but I do know that the students who competed were well supported. Staff absence, relief teachers and rostering home Once again covering for absent colleagues has been a challenge this week. I would like to take this opportunity to remind any former teachers who may be interested in doing relief work the Board will consider support with refresher study courses as required. Thank you to the new relievers who have come forward. I hope that we will be able to avoid rostering year groups home but that does still remain as a possibility as we head into winter. Finally In the school notices each week Ms Murdoch has been highlighting different careers and also a number of tertiary and industrial organisations have been visiting to talk with students about options beyond high school. I encourage students to make the most of these opportunities to find out first hand from experts some of the amazing options that exist for their future. Have a good weekend. Ka kite ano |
