Reach for the Stars

Reflecting on our positive academic results last year we set goals to be Better Than Before (BTB) for 2025 and beyond. We all need a plan on how and what to do.

I have been influenced by the words of Gilbert Enoka, one of the leaders in Mental Health and Motivation for people and teams around the world.
To be BTB his model of approach is that you need a:
WISHBONE: Have a goal per subject and a dream of where you may want to end up. Keep the goals simple in each subject and also service goals such as sport, culture or performance here at school. Where do you hope/wish to be?

BACKBONE: Achieve your goals by putting in place good structure and routines in your school day and homelife life. The structure of your day is King. Use a planner, set times for things, and have the gear/equipment so you reduce barriers and support your learning to reach your goal. Structure is King and Discipline is your Superpower. Do the stuff you need to do. Make it happen.

FUNNYBONE: Work hard but have fun and when you make a mistake, or even fail, realise it's not a big deal. Learn from it, fix the things that you slipped up on and try again. Find the positive fun in the day and laugh a little or a lot.

By having a Wishbone, Backbone and Funnybone you can be BTB and achieve your goals in 2025. I will be revisiting these themes over this term and throughout the year. But let's start now!
