Thursday 27th June | Term 2 Week 9 |
** From the Board of Trustees** The Board of Trustees has been made aware of speculation in the community that the building of our new school is not going ahead. We're unsure where this originated from, but we wonder whether a recent article in Stuff and the Timaru Herald has fed this misconception. I've included the article here.
As you can read in the article, the Ministry of Education's last communication with the school states that they are preparing to "get your project shovel-ready" - this is the Board of Trustees' expectation for the next steps in the building programme.
Have a great long weekend!
Kia ora e te whānau,
Welcome to the final newsletter for Term 2, 2024! The term has been yet another whirlwind of activities and commitments - it has flown by!
I’d like to acknowledge the work of Charlotte Saunders in leading such a unique and creative school production. Seussical was a roaring success! Thank you to all the students and teachers who supported us, undertaking huge workload commitments to make the production the success that we witnessed last week. Our students were outstanding, their transformation into the characters they played demonstrated the commitment they’ve shown from beginning to end of the preparations. To say we’re proud of them is an understatement! Thank you to the community for their support of the production - it was a fun-filled four nights.
Earlier this term, we asked the community for feedback on a proposed Generative AI Policy. The Board have met, considered the feedback from a wide group of stakeholders and adopted a final policy. The new Generative AI Policy can be found by following this link, or on our policy website: schooldocs.co.nz, search for our school, then use the login (twizel) and password (twizelarea).
Over the last couple of weeks a team of electricians have been fitting specialist heating into the areas of the school that aren’t reached by our heatpumps. We’re very grateful to the Ministry of Education for acknowledging this need, and hope that our hallways remain in positive temperatures for the remainder of the winter. Our heatpumps will also be serviced or replaced over the holiday break.
Mid Year Reports for all students in Years 1-10 are now available via SchoolBridge. If you have any questions or concerns, please make a time to speak to your child’s teacher(s). We’re happy to help in whatever ways we can.
Our End of Term Assemblies are in their final stages of planning. To avoid clashes with Netball the events will be held as follows:
- Junior (Years 1-6) End of Term Assembly, Wednesday 3rd July at 2 pm
- Senior (Year 7-13) End of Term Assembly, Friday 5th July at 11.20 am
Both assemblies will be in the Community Theatre.
And finally - well wishes to our elite athletes heading away to the National Area School Tournament over the break. Haere tonu!
Mānawatia a Matariki!
