Newsletter Issue 2

Regular, Positive Routines.

Students are back, on timetable and learning. We have had our first 5 days of the timetable for all students and look forward to uninterrupted learning days for the next 4 weeks.

The enthusiasm of the students to be in good regular routines of timetable, and learning in classrooms is refreshing and supports our positive learning culture here at the College.

Our focus this week and next will be on the habits of successful learners such as;

  • Regular attendance
  • Being on time for classes
  • Using their planner and timetable
  • Bringing their bag and correct equipment
  • Learning one new skill or bit of knowledge per lesson and the importance of repetition for long-term memory.

Our students can only control how they respond to the events around them. If we ensure they consolidate regular positive routines they will have more manawanui and persistence to cope with the challenges that the environment has provided for them and us lately.
Thank you for your support for your son, daughter, tamariki or mokopuna in ensuring that they are attending school. Attendance is approximately 90%. We know that once here, positive learning continues.
We understand some families and whānau have been affected by events in Auckland and the North Island. Our thoughts are with you. Please let the College know if there is any way in which we can support you so the learning for your children can continue.

Ngā mihi
Mark P Shanahan.
