Term 4 - week 7

Kia ora, koutou.

Next week is our Year 10 camps and Year 9 activities week.  A lot of the Year 10 students will be heading out across the motu to participate in a variety of different camps that our staff have put together.  The Year 9 students will spend most of the week engaged in different types of activities outside of their normal timetabled classes.  These camps and activities are often what students remember most fondly about secondary school and we are proud these activities are part of our end of year programme.  A special thanks to those staff who will spend time away from their own families next week to give our students these memorable experiences.

Thank you to everyone who provided feedback on our draft strategic plan. It is important your voices are heard as we construct the final strategic plan for 2024-2025.  The aspect of the draft which elicited the most feedback was the de-streaming element.  This process is something our teachers, students, and community will have the opportunity to continue to share their thoughts and perspectives on.  It is certainly not something we are rushing into as a kura. Doing my best to create equitable outcomes for all our students is my responsibility and it is something I am constantly thinking about and striving for.  Once again, thank you for all the feedback we received.

Tomorrow, our entire staff and lots of our students will be volunteering for the Lake Taupō Cycle Challenge.  It’s our major fundraiser for the year, but is also a fantastic opportunity to contribute to this wonderful event.  All the best to anyone who is participating in any of the events which take place tomorrow!  Be sure to come and say Kia Ora if you spot our staff around.

Our junior prize giving will take place at 10 a.m. on Friday 8 December in our hall (final day of school for the students).  Whānau/parents/caregivers are all welcome to help us celebrate the achievements of our junior students in 2023.

Ngā mihi
