Reflect and Refocus

It has been a week of focus and engagement with leadership in Polyfest for our students. Approximately 250 students, teachers and tutors representing Filipino, Cook Island, Kapa Haka, Sāmoan, Indian, and Roma groups represented us and their culture at this event. We also shared evenings this week with family and whānau at our Hui and Fono evenings.
Our motivational speaker at our Pasifika Fono was Jeremiah Tauti from Mana Connections.
His message was relevant to us all and we hope to have him in the College again to speak to our Year 12/13 assembly
Part of his theme was around the message and importance of FOCUS which he used as an acronym.

  • 'F' = Faith. A belief in yourself to know you can do things.
  • 'O' = Opportunity. Step forward to take the positive opportunities.
  • 'C' = Culture. Take pride in the strength of your cultural history.
  • 'U' = Unwavering. Have the manawanui to keep working on your goals.
  • 'S' = Sacrifice. Ensure your friends are good people working with you to be better than before (BTB)

I have paraphrased Jeremiah's message as we all hear things with our own Cultural Intelligence (CQ like IQ and EQ) so my apologies if I missed points.
Lastly, "Starve your Distractions and Feed your Focus."

Take the time over Easter to reflect on this message and refocus for the year with your family, friends and whānau.

God Bless.
