It's Déjà Vu For Week 9

This Principal message is similar to last week as we are in our 2-week assessment window NCEA practice Exams, Internal Standard completion and the Common Assessment Activities (CAA) for Numeracy and Literacy for year 10 students upwards.  For Internal Assessments and the CAA you need to know;

  • What the requirements are needed for Achieved (A), Merit (M), Excellence (E)
  • Exemplars of A, M & E for reference so you can work to that level. Check with your teachers.
  • The milestone or checkpoint dates you have to meet to keep on track for the assessment completion.
  • You need to manage your diary so that these are a priority and get them done. Sacrifice other activities.
  • What is required in the CAA, read it, scan for clues and answer all the questions to your best skill so there is substance to mark.

For External Assessments you need to;

  • Be making study notes/ topic summaries that you can use for the practice exams in preparation for the finals in November.
  • Get past questions from your teachers (or relevant study websites) to test yourself with. About 3 examples per Standard.
  • Practise writing the answers on model answer sheets so that you get used to writing for the exam.
  • Add/edit your study notes after the practice exams and keep going over and over so that that knowledge can be recalled and used from memory.
  • Repeat this process again and again.
  • Keep study notes tidy for easy reference.

This is the time of year when you can prepare and ensure that you are 'Better Than Before' (BTB)

Ngā mihi
