The Challenge

The rush to the end for the Senior School is on. Calm waters remain for the Junior School.
As we meet in the Jackson Auditorium - Te Tiakihana Whare Tapere to celebrate with our students, staff, family, and whānau on achievements over this year we also rush to complete internal assessments and preparation for external assessments.
This week we had our Mana Māori and Pasifika Awards evenings and have previously celebrated our Sports and Arts n Culture Award evenings which included all year levels.

Next Tuesday is our Senior Prizegiving and by Friday 4/11/20 all our Seniors will have been signed out in preparation for NCEA Externals starting on Monday 7/11/20 ending on 2/12/20. Their challenge is directly ahead to do the mahi for success.
Some Seniors will be invited in to complete specific assessments and our Summer School starts on Friday 4 for students who we have identified could pass with a specific programme over the Summer.

For the Junior School, after the seniors leave, those next 5+ weeks are business as usual as they continue to cover their academic courses. The school becomes 'theirs' so to speak. So the high expectations, good learning, and positive culture of Waitākere College become their responsibility.
I have no doubt they will rise to the challenge and keep those standards at the highest level.

It's a good challenge for both our Seniors and our Juniors.

Ngā mihi

Sports Awards

After two years of disruptions, we were finally back at the Trusts Stadium for our two-course sit-down dinner and to celebrate our student's wonderful sporting achievements.
