Embracing Opportunities and Unity |
As we look ahead to the end of Term we can be heartened that Thursday was the winter solstice. We have been through the longest night and the shortest day as the earth begins its gradual roll back towards summer for the Southern Hemisphere.
All around us, we will see many plants and animals going into hibernation for the winter, this is not the case within the College as we march on with the huge diverse range of opportunities, celebrations and extra curricular events that bring us together as a community. We're looking forward to the School show "Bring It On" on Wednesday and Thursday nights next week and seeing all the hard mahi, commitment, manawanui and rehearsals coming to fruition. From the school show to the Business Market day this Saturday from 10 am till 2 pm under the bubble at the College, to ongoing school sports, Readers Cup competitions and the end of our Book Battle competition where students earn house points for reading books out of our library, this is just a small snapshot of some many diverse opportunities students have had this week.
We are also heartened to see that industrial action has been suspended in good faith so that the PPTA and the Ministry of Education can enter into arbitration processes over the next month. It has been a challenging process for all, including you as whānau, our teachers are hoping that this process will bring better working conditions and in turn, continue to raise student achievement across Aotearoa.
Kua tau ngā purapura a Matariki ki te whenua, kua huihui ngā iwi i te pūmahana o te kotahitanga me te aroha The frost and snow of Matariki is upon the land, and the people have converged in unity and love.
Ngā mihi
