Are We There Yet?

As we come to the last two key weeks of Term 2 it is time to confirm where we are and continue to look at how we apply a Growth Mindset (GM) to the learning and life journey each of us is on.
Term 2 Academic Reports have now been issued and we are in our second round of Parent/Student/Teacher Interviews, held last Thursday and this coming Tuesday evening.
Applying a growth mindset approach to your learning journey now, and developing the growth mindset as a habit or way of operating as a young person will only set you up well for the challenges, Now and in the future.
Some of the GM approaches are;

  • I can learn anything I want
  • When I get frustrated I have Manawanui - never give up, never give up
  • When I fail, I learn from it
  • My positive effort improves my results
  • My positive attitude improves my outcome
  • I celebrate when my friends succeed

The other keyword is "yet." Adding that to any positive challenge you have in learning keeps your Manawanui up. "I'm not there yet", or "I haven't got that right, yet" allows you to forgive yourself and have another go.
Embed these tricks as habits of learning and you will be Better Than Before (BTB)

Ngā mihi
