From the Principal |
Kia ora koutou,
The exciting news is that we have appointed a new DP - Naomi Bates. That means we now have 4 DPs - Samanthat Farook, Toni Brewer and Elsie Leslie.
We also have 3 new Poutiaki Wānanga - Learning Facilitators - so our year level Learning Facilitators are:
Year 7 - Harriet Hokai ([email protected]) Year 8 - Jill Rimmer ([email protected]) Year 9 - Natalie Hewitt ([email protected]) Year 10 - Shirley Scott ([email protected]) Year 11 - Simone Shinabe ([email protected]) Year 12 and 13 - Aimee Simemba ([email protected])
These are important people in your young people’s lives. If you have any concerns that cannot be dealt with by your child's whānau teacher, then please contact them.
Last week and this week most of your senior students are involved in practice exams or external exams. We are very pleased with the way the students are handling these exams. Teachers report that the students are settled and ready to start the exams, and that they are staying in class till the end of the exam in order to do their best. Well done to all of them.
Senior students will be expected to remain at school until they have completed all the necessary work for their internal and external assessments. They will need to be signed off by their teachers before they are able to leave school for the year.
IMPORTANT
There will be some minor changes to the timetable next term. Please see below for these important changes.
Have a safe and happy holiday.

Our Senior Business Studies students organised a Spring Market day. They did a fantastic job planning and creating a wide array of different products. Other students enjoyed the atmosphere and the food and drink that was on offer. Well done! |
Sport
Congratulations to Brodie Te Hau, who captained our school rugby team this year. Brodie has been selected to represent Waikato in the Under 16s rugby team. Before this season, Brodie played as a half back. This year has seen Brodie take on a new role in the team as a specialist number 7. His dedication and hard work, hasn't gone unoticed by the WRU. Congratulations Brodie on being Mangakōtukutuku College’s first Waikato Rugby Representative. It’s a proud day for our school and Brodie’s whānau.
The senior boys football team sit top of there division table, with 9 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss. Scoring 52 goals in the process, while conceding only 12 goals in ten games.
Out of 8 divisions and 48 teams throughout the Waikato, they sit in the top five teams, for most goals scored by any team this whole season.
While winning all 3 preseason games, and with their one and only defeat not coming until the 6th game of the regular season, they went on an impressive undefeated run of 8 games.
They remain undefeated at there home ground this year. In all games played, the opposition finished scoreless over half of the time.
Well done boys on winning your division. We are so proud of you all. |
Celebrating Languages
Our school librarian does a fantastic job at creating a space where our students are able to connect with their culture and learn about other cultures. Last week we celebrated Te Wiki o te re Māori and this week we celebrate New Zealand Chinese Language Week. |
